#29: Amare vs. Adonal

In case you missed the introduction, for the month of September HMB is counting down the Top 30 Bay Area sports YouTube clips. It's pretty simple: one per day for the entire month, excluding the Oakland A's and Raiders because, well, we don't like them and from their attendance figures, it doesn't seem that many people do either. Today we are on Day 2 and video #29.

Despite our affection for the team, we enjoy poking fun at the Warriors because they have the NBA's longest playoff drought and never cease finding new ways to disappoint a loyal fan base. Of all of Chris Mullin's blunders as GM, the most inexcusable has been the hideous contract he gave to middling center Adonal Foyle. By all means, Adonal is a great guy; he is probably one of three guys in the NBA with a freaking degree--from Colgate, no less--and he has a book club! In retrospect, I guess it warrants a 5-year, $41.6 million contract. Nonetheless, Foyle has become a whipping boy for morbid Warrior fans, which now comprises the entire fan base.

Clip #29 features classic Adonal: part defensive brillance, mostly unathletic incompetence. While most of the clip features uncensored facials from Amare Stoudemire, Foyle does have his moments. And those moments are what we live for. And pay $8,125,000 in 2006-07 for his services. The silver lining? That's only four million less than Amare.
