Web Watch: Baron Davis

Athlete web pages. A trend that's starting to pick up, but probably not the way those superstars (and even superstar hopefuls) envisioned. They see dollar signs and sponsorships; we see over-inflated egos and perfect heckling material. Is it possible to have one of these without coming off as a pompous, self-involved tool? Every Thursday, until I can't find any more, we'll look at a (sometimes ex-) Bay Area athlete's site to find out...

Athlete: Baron Davis
Website: www.barondavis.com

The Skinny: It's great how athletes create web pages that add very little to the wealth of information out there already. There are already tons of credible places where I can find stats and a bio on Baron Davis, why do I need barondavis.com? Surely it isn't for the videos of Baron on the Best Damn Sports Show Period or Rome is Burning, two of the worst sports programs on television today. I mean when you click the link for Baron's stats it takes you directly to the NBA site.

The lesser known Black, Superathlete Santa

So I guess I would come here for quotes like this:
Baron Davis is described as ‘one of the few pure point guards currently in the NBA.'
and
While at Crossroads [Santa Monica, CA], Davis mingled with some of the film industry's elite off-springs, including Kate Hudson among others.
Wait, so he's a great basketball player and mingles with celebrities??? This is mind boggling...
